Dominique and John met while attending law school at Notre Dame. They were both selected to be on a National Arbitration Team, which traveled to New Orleans for a competition. Before leaving for the trip, they had never even spoken, but they ended up making a great team and became fast friends! It wasn’t long after that, that the two officially started dating.
About 2 years later, John popped the big question! Since their relationship blossomed during Covid, all of the quarantining together quickly made these two realize that it was meant to be. They say that they knew they were right for each other when they loved how much time they got to spend together and not wanting to kill each other in their tiny apartment in their law school town.
John is originally from Connecticut, and over the summer his parents were visiting Chicago for the first time. On the day of the proposal, they were walking to meet them for dinner.
John suggested they walk on the riverwalk, where he ended up proposing near Tiny Tapp. He flew in Dominique’s best friend from college from Texas to take photos at the proposal. After the proposal, John and Dominique went to dinner at the place where they had their first date, where both sets of parents were waiting for them. After that, John had planned a surprise party at their apartment with friends and family. Dominique says, “The day was perfect!”
Congratulations Dominique and John! I cannot wait for their November wedding at the Bridgeport Art Center this fall!
John custom designed Dominique’s ring, which he bought from Ethan Lord in Chicago. He added special touches like a hidden halo just for Dominique.
