As the snow fell down and dusted the Chicago skyline, Sapaan convinced Keena to go for a walk through Maggie Daley Park. Luckily she did because she walked into a surprise bigger than she could have imagined. THEY’RE ENGAGED!

I knew from the first conversation I had with Sapaan on the phone that this was going to be a proposal for the books! Sapaan choose a variety of highlights from throughout his relationship with Keena and had the very talented artist Monique Machut (Instagram shout-out: @moniquemachut_illustration) sketch drawing of these highlights.

Sapaan lives in California, so Keena was just under the impressed that he was visiting her in Chicago for the weekend. How on earth did he get her to come to go for a walk during this snow storm? They were going to meet other friends who were in town as well.

Each piece of art was aligned in chronological order of their relationship, leaving the best for last: Sapaan getting down on one knee. Keena says it took all the way until the last painting to realize what was going on. Meanwhile, family from all over the country was waiting for these two, ready to celebrate. Quick shout-out to the siblings that helped set this up and make this surprise everything that it was. Congratulations you two! This was such a fun surprise to be a part of!
