An Ivy Room Chicago wedding is the perfect blend of garden romance and city elegance. Lauren and Matt’s spring wedding brought together colorful florals, deep green accents, and a celebration surrounded by the people they love most!

The day began at the Intercontinental Chicago, where Lauren and her bridal party got ready before heading to the Ivy Room for the ceremony and reception. With a smaller wedding party and a couple that was completely laid back, the entire day felt effortless from beginning to end. Everything flowed smoothly, leaving plenty of room to slow down and enjoy the moments that mattered most.

A First Look & Private Vows

Lauren and Matt chose to share a first look and private vows before the ceremony. I absolutely love when couples choose to incorporate private vows into their wedding day because it gives them a quiet moment together before the celebration begins.

There was something especially meaningful about being able to capture this part of their day. The emotions were intimate and genuine, and Lauren and Matt were able to take it all in without the distraction of a room full of guests.

And this wedding had an extra special connection for me. Lauren was actually the maid of honor at Dominique and John’s wedding at the Bridgeport Art Center! It was so much fun to see Lauren now stepping into her own wedding day, especially because the connection between these two couples continued throughout the day.

The ring bearer was the son of my past couple, Dominique and John, and Lauren is his Godmother. It was so sweet to see him there celebrating with her, and such a fun reminder of how our paths have continued to cross since that wedding.

Garden Romance Meets City Elegance

The Ivy Room was such a beautiful setting for Lauren and Matt’s spring wedding. This was my first time photographing a wedding at the venue, and I truly hope it won’t be my last!

The space’s ivy and dark green accents created the perfect backdrop for the couple’s colorful spring floral design. The combination felt romantic and organic and beautiful.

Every detail came together beautifully, from the lush greenery throughout the space to the pops of color in the florals. It was the perfect garden-inspired setting for a spring wedding in Chicago.

A Beautiful Spring Celebration

After the ceremony, we had time to capture portraits of the newlyweds and their closest friends and family before everyone settled in for the reception.

One of my favorite things about photographing a wedding like this is seeing how much personality comes through when a couple is simply able to relax and enjoy their day. Lauren and Matt were so easygoing, and that energy carried throughout the day. There was no pressure for the day to feel overly formal or complicated — it was simply about the two of them, their family and friends, and celebrating this next chapter together.

The Ivy Room created such a beautiful atmosphere for the evening, and the colorful florals and greenery made everything feel warm, romantic, and inviting.

I am so grateful to have been part of this beautiful spring wedding and to have watched one of my past wedding connections come full circle. Lauren and Matt, congratulations on your marriage! It was such a joy to capture your day, and I hope to be back at the Ivy Room again soon!
