Chicago Civil Ceremony

Sharmin and Azim’s official wedding day will take place on June 15, 2019. However, it is part of their religion to be legally married by the state before performing the religious ceremony, called the Nikkah. The civil ceremony took place at Olive Park on April 20, 2019. Since they both grew up following Western culture, they definitely wanted to incorporate this civil ceremony as a significant part of their wedding. Azim’s cousin officiated the ceremony.

The happy couple started their relationship back in 2005! The two met at a mutual friend’s wedding, and at that time, the cool thing to do was talk on AIM. They exchanged AIM screen names, and the rest was history!  They even went to junior year homecoming together and Azim was Sharmin’s first kiss. Sharmin says, “He is, and always will be, my happily ever after!” Sharmin and Azim are two opposite personalities but would do anything to make the other person happy. They value friendship, family, and most importantly, just being good people.

When asked how he knew that Sharmin was the one, Azim says “I knew Sharmin was the one the moment I met her. It’s strange because we were so young back then, but the way I felt and still feel every time I was or am around her compares to nothing else. I’ve had that same feeling since day 1. I didn’t know what it was back then, but I certainly do now.”

Sharmin says, “Azim is my heart. He is a loving, caring, intelligent, strong, supportive and a handsome man. His love for sports sometimes makes me question his love for me. He loves to eat pizza; I can give him pizza in the middle of an argument and he will forget we were even arguing! He loves to hear me talk. Tells me I am an excellent story teller that provides too many unnecessary details. On my hardest days, he knows exactly what to say to cheer me up. He can make me laugh at any moment. He has a heart of gold. He puts his family and loved ones before all, and that is why I cherish him for all that he does for all of us. He is my best friend and I can’t wait to officially tie the knot and call him my husband!”

Congratulations Sharmin and Azim! You are a beautiful couple inside and out, and it was an honor to capture this milestone in your marriage journey.
