Sunset Lighting
The key to getting the best fall engagement photos includes a variety of things; most important of which is the time of day. The best time of day for a session during the fall season is one hour before the scheduled sunset time, known as golden hour. The timing of sunrise and sunset changes as summer turns to fall, and fall turns to winter. Keep note of when the sun sets as September turns to October when scheduling your session.
Color and Clothing Choices
Samm and Danny had a beautiful fall day to let Hickory Creek Forest Preserve show off its light greens, soft golds, and peaks of scarlet. Doing an outfit change provides you a chance to express yourself in different styles, and it’s the perfect excuse to get all dressed up! Samm’s pop of maroon adds a perfect splash of color to a more neutral fall scenery. Generally, a good combination does not involve too many bold colors. The idea is to complement each other’s outfit, not necessarily match. Samm’s beautiful maroon dress from Altar’d State balances Danny’s neutral colors perfectly. Furthermore, you can take note that neutral does not have to be boring. Earthy tones such as army green or rich beige can be the best way to complement vivid fall colors.
